David R. Cartwright

David R. Cartwright, a native of Princeton, Kentucky, is the Minister Emeritus at Hazelwood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Muncie, Indiana, where he served as senior minister for 22 years. He holds the A.B. degree from Washington University in St. Louis, B.D. degree from Yale Divinity School and D. Min. degree from Christian Theological Seminary (Indianapolis, Indiana). He has served in various pastoral roles in Christian churches in Indiana since his ordination to the Christian ministry in 1965. He presently serves as a Regional Elder for the Christian Church in Indiana. Cartwright is a member of the Academy of Parish Clergy and the International Society of Theta Phi. A past president, he is active in the Association of Life-Long Learners at Ball State University, Muncie, IN. He is the author of several articles in Disciples denominational magazines, and the author of Guided by the Spirit, part of Sermons on the Gospel Readings, Series II, Cycle C (CSS) and Eyes of Faith, part of Cycle B Sermons for Pentecost 1. He is married to Susan Merrick, his wife of 47 years. They have two children, Chris and Megan, and two grandchildren, Max and Katie. His hobbies include reading, cooking, ballroom dancing, and travel. In 2004, Cartwright was the recipient of a Lilly Clergy Renewal Grant which allowed him to begin research at Wesley House, Cambridge, UK on Wounded by Truth…Healed by Love.
