Amber Mattingly is passionate about teaching practices that invite people to see and hear themselves and each other. This passion comes from her Christian faith tradition that finds a sense of grounding in the Genesis story of Hagar who names God, the God who sees. This powerful story reminds Amber that no one is outside the boundary of God’s love. Amber is a graduate of Baylor University in 1999 and received a Master of Divinity degree from George W. Truett Theological Seminary in 2002. Recently, Amber completed her Doctor of Ministry degree at Claremont School of Theology. Her project, “From the Pew to the Mat: Seeing and Hearing the Outsider,” focused on creating sacred space for people from any or no religious tradition to share their stories of blessing and brokenness. From this research, Amber created Sacred Flow. Sacred Flow imagines a world where all people live a trauma informed, Robust (strong & healthy), and Resilient (Flexible & Persistent) life. Her CPR curriculum for middle school students enhances students’ innate ability to live with Clarity, comPassion, & Radical amazement. Amber is also the solo pastor at Heights Christian Church in Houston, Texas. Amber has two beautifully unique children and is married to her best friend, Rev. Dr. Chad Mattingly.
